Elana Scheiner, OD
Dr. Elana Scheiner was born in New York City, NY, and raised in Randolph, NJ. She graduated from Rutgers University in New Jersey with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology in 1993.
After 4 years of study she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at the prestigious New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA in 1997. It was there where she met her future husband and partner Dr. Michael Marino.
Dr. Scheiner furthered her professional education by completing a residency in low–vision rehabilitation at the West Haven VA Medical Center in West Haven, CT in 1998.
Dr. Scheiner relocated to North Carolina in 1999 to start her career with Fox Eye Care in Raleigh.
In October of 2000, Dr. Scheiner and her husband Dr. Marino opened their private practice as Family Eye Care of Apex.
She is well trained and enjoys providing patients of all ages the most comprehensive optimum eye care. She provides quality eye care for people who require yearly monitoring with no specific correction required and those who need eye examinations for eyeglasses and single vision and bifocal contact lenses.
Dr. Scheiner’s most rewarding days involve working with the visually impaired adult population as well as students attending the local public school systems and school systems throughout the state. In addition, she evaluates and prescribes treatment for children at the Governor Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh, N.C. and recently began seeing the children with visual impairment at the Duke Eye Center in Durham. Dr. Scheiner is recommended by the Raleigh Division of Services For The Blind and local retinal specialists for those young adults and elderly in our state with visual impairment. Dr. Scheiner’s continual goal is to enhance the overall quality of life and visual independence to those whose vision and correlated function is impaired.
